Okay, so here’s the thing. I’m sitting here cracking up over Supergiant’s so-called “final” Hades 2 patch. I mean, come on, how many last updates are we gonna get before they just admit it’s neverending? It’s like those bands that keep saying they’re done touring, and the next thing you know, they’re headlining in Vegas for… literally forever. But, it might be more than just a laugh—there’s something deeper at play here.
Anyway, so I was scrolling through the patch notes (yeah, I do that), from Patch 10 to 11, noticing stuff. Like, they keep messing with Melinoe’s weapons. First, they slow down the Umbral Flames in Patch 10. Then—get this—they ramp it up again with Patch 11. It’s like… make up your mind! But you know what? Playing it feels different, like it was the right move or something. A part of me was like, “Supergiant, do you really hate me that much you’re gonna nerf Hestia’s boons?” Seriously, felt personal.
But here’s the kicker—Supergiant somehow gets all the things that make players want to pull their hair out, not just the obvious stuff like making Chronos less of a joke. Sneaky things. Like, balancing monsters on Olympus and tweaking movement speeds—tiny bits that hold a surprising punch.
So yeah, I bailed on Hades 2 before the Warsong update because, man, Olympus was just too much. I mean, you work so hard to get there, only to get smacked down by a flood of baddies that you can’t even understand without dying a hundred times? Who has time for that nonsense? Then Patch 11 rolled in, and I’m tempted to dive back in. It’s gotten me so hyped for the official 1.0 release.
What’s wild is most of these tweaks don’t even come from player complaints. Sure, they’ve got this little megaphone icon in the patch notes for community-suggested changes, like making Hexes tick faster. But loads of updates just seem to come from Supergiant knowing their game inside out. Like, anticipating what feels right before you even know you need it. Wizardry, I tell you.
Throughout Hades 2’s early phase, Supergiant swore they’d make the 1.0 launch incredible. Kind of refreshing, you know? Especially when so many games launch early access and then… just hang there. Or do that weird “unlaunch” thing. Reminds me, 1047 Games just unlaunched Splitgate 2. Why? They just, uh, didn’t get what players wanted—or what made the game fun in the first place. Ouch. Reddit called them out, too.
But hey, Supergiant, keep it going. Push out those never-final updates. Yeah, waiting bites, but for something this good? Worth it.
