Our adventurous journey with the Expedition Team brings us to the breathtaking Iceshard Cliffs. This new locale is a land of shimmering ice and howling blizzards, teeming with a diversity of monsters that call it home. Picture snow-filled skies and icy fog drifting through the air, creating a unique area adorned with collapsed debris and mysterious objects fluttering in the wind. Explorers, brace yourselves for chilling adventures and remember to keep warm with a steaming hot drink to battle the freeze!
### Meet Rove, the Wudwud far from home
In this frosty expanse, you’ll encounter Rove, a quirky Wudwud who’s found himself way off his usual path.
### Monsters of the Iceshard Cliffs
Say hello to Hirabami, a leviathan species that rules the icy waters. Its sharp tail claws and special membrane allow it to seemingly float on air—a sight to behold! In the trailer’s action-packed moments, a mysterious large monster takes on a pack of these leviathans.
Then there’s Nerscylla, the Temnoceran making a dramatic return to the series. Famous for its deadly horn and precision strike, Nerscylla is a beast not to be underestimated as it stalks its prey. The trailer hints at a fierce encounter with Gypceros.

Get ready to delve deeper into the enigmatic story of Arkveld, the flagship monster. As the trailer unveils, Arkveld’s true nature and hidden agendas are waiting to be discovered as you journey through the game’s compelling narrative.
### Arkveld in the second open beta test (OBT2)
Prepare yourselves to jump into OBT2 during two exclusive sessions:
– From Thursday, February 6th at 7:00pm to Sunday, February 9th at 6:59pm
– And again from Thursday, February 13th at 7:00pm to Sunday, February 16th at 6:59pm
Starting February 5th at 7:00pm, you can pre-load OBT2 to ensure you’re ready to dive straight in when the time comes.
The beta will let you sample the same thrilling content as the previous OBT: Character Creation, a Story Trial, and the Doshagma Hunt. Once you’ve conquered Doshagma, the Windward Plains await your exploration and mastery!
In this round, you’ll confront the Gypceros, a clever and poisonous Bird Wyvern beloved by series veterans. Additionally, for the first time, skilled hunters can challenge Arkveld itself in a specially designed advanced quest—do you have what it takes?
The newly available Training Area is perfect for sharpening your weapon skills in preparation for upcoming challenges.
Keep in mind, OBT2 offers a glimpse but not the full scope of weapon tweaks and balance adjustments slated for the full game release.
This beta also supports creating a Private Lobby for intimate gameplay sessions, or you can fly solo with the Online Single Player mode. Thanks to the SOS Flare, you can seamlessly switch to multiplayer!
Whether you missed the first beta or you’re eager for more monster action, OBT2 is here to deliver. Available for all PS5 players with a PlayStation Network account, no PS Plus subscription required!
Participating in OBT2 will reward you with a Felyne pendant and a Bonus Item pack for the official game. Previous beta participants—you’re already set for these goodies at launch!
While OBT2 is accessible on PS5 Pro, know that official support for Enhanced features will come with the full release’s day one patch.
Excitingly, you can carry over characters made in either beta into the full game, albeit with refined character editing.
