Matt Ryan, yeah, the guy who brought Edward Kenway to life in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, might just have dropped a little nugget of info that could make you wanna dust off that old pirate game. Or not. Who knows? This happened when he was signing stuff at a convention, just casually chatting with a fan. And now folks are buzzing about a potential remake or remaster. But here’s the kicker: Ubisoft wasn’t thrilled. Apparently, they even wagged the legal finger at him after a clip of the convo went viral online. Seriously, sometimes it feels like a pirate game living this life.
So, there was this clip, right? TikTok user kylo_hd659 caught it all during the Comic Con Manchester meetup, where Ryan was at his signing table. Dude was just spilling some beans about a possible Black Flag redo. In his words, he kinda got caught off guard. Didn’t even realize he was being captured on someone’s phone cam. So, now what? Legal threats. It’s like, keep it zipped, buddy.
“I didn’t know someone was recording me on their phone,” he shared, all casual-like. “Then, well, the company, they threatened to sue me. So yeah, I say nothing now.” Sounds like he learned his lesson the hard way. Maybe. I mean, calling attention like that? Hmm. Smart tactic to avoid pesky questions, I guess.
We pinged Ubisoft for their take, and who knows, maybe they’ll get back to us. If so, you’ll hear about it—promise.
Though he hasn’t jumped back into Assassin’s Creed since Black Flag, Ryan’s been quite the Constantine fella. The guy’s been busy with DC Comics stuff like Legends of Tomorrow. Speaking of which, if James Gunn ever gets it in his head to reboot Constantine in the DC Universe flicks, he should totally give Ryan a call. It’s like, come on, it would make my day—pretty please!
