Apple is gearing up to take its AI tools, known as Apple Intelligence, to the next level by introducing them to Vision Pro in April, coinciding with the public rollout of visionOS 2.4. For eager developers who’ve switched on developer mode, there’s already a chance to dive in and get a first look at these exciting features.
With Apple Intelligence now joining Vision Pro, users can expect an impressive suite of AI-driven features like writing tools, AI-generated images, smart reply options, natural language photo searches, AI summaries, and even personalized emojis. All the innovative elements we’ve come to enjoy on iOS and Mac since their debut are making their way to Vision Pro. Given that Vision Pro emphasizes voice and hand-based text input, these features are poised to be incredibly impactful.
The upcoming update also promises to revamp the Guest User mode. This enhancement will allow people to share their Vision Pro experience effortlessly with others, using a nearby iPhone or iPad. This improvement is a blessing for those who’ve struggled through the often comical, yet frustrating, dance of directing new users with phrases like, “Okay, return to Home, tap that icon—no, the other one!” It’s all about making the user experience smoother and more enjoyable.
VisionOS 2.4 is also bringing an intriguing addition called Spatial Gallery—a curated selection of spatial photos, videos, and panoramas crafted by artists, filmmakers, and photographers from around the globe. Once launched, Spatial Gallery will be accessible to users in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the UAE, the UK, and the US.
In another exciting development, Vision Pro is achieving closer ties with iOS. When visionOS 2.4 makes its official debut in April, users will be able to manage app and game downloads, explore spatial content and experiences, and check device info straight from their iPhones, thanks to the new Apple Vision Pro iOS app. This app is set to launch alongside iOS 18.4.
Initially, the 2.4 release with Apple Intelligence will only be available in U.S. English, but Apple has assured users that additional languages and features will be phased in over the year.
While Apple hasn’t pinned down an exact date for the April release, keen developers can already access a visionOS 2.4 beta version. If you’re interested in jumping on board, you can enroll by heading to Settings > Privacy & Security, then locate and activate “Developer Mode,” and give your Vision Pro a restart.
