Yuji Horii just can’t seem to keep a lid on things. Honestly, it’s kind of endearing. Like, do we love the guy even more because he might’ve accidentally spilled the beans on a Chrono Trigger remake for its 30th anniversary? Probably.
So, picture this: a comic con in Napoli, Italy, right? Folks are chilling at a panel with Yuji Horii, the dude who’s basically the backbone of the Dragon Quest series. Out of nowhere, he hints at a remake of Chrono Trigger! And when the host goes, “Wait, what was that?” Horii just covers his mouth like a kid caught sneaking a cookie. The translator’s all like, “You heard nothing,” which just sends the crowd into a crazy cheer!
Here’s the thing, this isn’t Horii’s first accidental reveal rodeo. Back in July 2015, he threw out confirmations for the 3DS localizations of Dragon Quest VII and VIII. And get this, he blurted out news about Dragon Quest XI hitting the Switch – or “NX” as they called it back then – even though it was supposed to be hush-hush for PS4 and 3DS. Oops?
And about March 11, right? That’s a biggie — Chrono Trigger’s 30th b-day. Square Enix teased more celebrations, but stayed coy about the deets. So are we getting that remake? Who knows! But with Yuji’s track record, maybe we should keep our ears open… or just wait for him to spill the beans again.
