Ugh, so Theia Games just threw open the gates on this VR thing called STARVAULT. Gotta say, I’m into it—well, at least in theory. It’s a MOBA, which means big chaotic 5v5 battles, except you’re right there, first-person style. Nine heroes—each totally doing their own thing, skills, weapons, the works. Anyway, yeah, like other MOBAs, it’s about smashing enemy lanes, taking out towers, capturing strongholds—basically, you’re playing chess but with explosions and way more shouting. Maybe that’s just how I imagine it.
So, there’s this thing about farming enemy creeps—sounds like gardening, right? Except it’s more about gaining XP and creds. Those mean unlocking cool abilities and artifacts, which apparently sets you up for success. But reality check, it also sounds like you might spend too much time beating up little minions just to get somewhere. Not judging. Just saying.
Oh, and get this: they say it’s a whole HALO vibe. Shooting, portals, jump pads—stuff you’d picture in a hyperactive sci-fi dream. A bit of nostalgia mixed with a whole new thing to trip over in VR, if you’re like me and not exactly graceful.
They’re like, “Hey, it’s free for now, no microtransactions!” Could be a bait, but who knows? Supposedly an early version—they seem cool with admitting it’s still being cooked. Launch plans? Summer 2025 for Early Access, then proper release in 2026. Meanwhile, they’re jabbering about ethical monetization—battle passes, skins, blah blah. Guess that’s the new normal?
Anyway, they’re dreaming big—a full-blown VR esport. Fingers crossed it doesn’t flop like some earlier dreams I’ve had. If you’re up for it, give it a whirl in open beta on something like Quest 2. But seriously, don’t blame me if you get too into it and ignore real life. Been there, done that.
