Hey, so being a Fallout fan these days, it’s kinda a rollercoaster, you know? Fallout 76 is way better now, sure, and the TV show is killin’ it. Season 2’s dropping in December, can you believe? But, gah, no new single-player RPG since Fallout 4, which, by the way, is like ancient history now. A whole dang decade old! And we might not see Fallout 5 till, I dunno, the 2030s? Thanks, Bethesda, for focusing on The Elder Scrolls 6 first. Priorities, right?
But hey, don’t totally panic yet! Fans are always crafting insanely cool mods like Fallout London to keep us going. Speaking of which, stumbled onto this wild trailer last weekend—I mean, seriously, watch it. It’s for this mod called Fallout: Bakersfield. Yup, they’re turning the first DOOM into a Fallout-themed old-school FPS. Like, how nuts is that?
Anyway, the name kinda gives it away—Bakersfield, California. Fallout peeps know it as Necropolis, the “City of the Dead”. You play as some Vault 13 dweller. Maybe you’re the Fallout 1 protagonist? Or Talius? Could be either. The trailer didn’t spill all the beans. It’s like mixing the RPG magic of Fallout with the chaotic, shoot-‘em-up glory of DOOM. They’ve even mashed up the UI to blend both vibes. That log message thing? Yeah, it’s a sweet nod to Fallout fans.
Visually, it’s a blast from the past. We’re talkin’ pixel-y graphics and over-the-top gore. You can feel the DOOM essence with the “2.5D” artistry—gotta love those 2D sprites in a 3D world. Combat’s gonna be epic, too, wielding those classic Fallout 1 weapons—10mm SMG, Flamer, Plasma Pistol, you name it. Noticed you can destroy a bit of the environment and loot things. There are dialogue options, too. Combat and chats, just like my morning coffee and… well, more coffee.
And yeah, animations have that quirky, limited-frame charm. The sound? They snagged it straight from the first Fallout. So underrated!
Honestly, one of the coolest mods I’ve eyeballed. Sad news? No release date still. The devs say it’s about 60% done. But, hey, it’s progress! Team behind this delight? Alexander “Red888Guns” Berezin and Denis Berezin. They’re on Boosty if you wanna chuck a few bucks their way. Just $2.66/month. No pressure though—they insist profits aren’t the deal here.
I’m probably tossing some bucks their way, gladly. Feels good supporting creativity, right? Studios often miss these quirky ideas, but mods like this? They’re what we feast on while waiting for the next big thing.
“Alright, I’m out. Oh wait—did I forget anything? Nope? Okay, cool. Catch ya later!”
