It’s Wednesday (well, at least that’s what my calendar says), and guess what? PlayStation’s got this shiny new studio they want to introduce you to. Don’t be shy; they don’t bite—well, except maybe for the execs, but that’s another story. So, meet teamLFG. Yeah, that’s right, another studio. They’re diving into some multiplayer game that’s apparently inspired by “frog-type games,” whatever that means.
So, there’s this PS Blog post where Sony’s big cheese, Hermen Hulst, is all “Look at my new baby!” Which, honestly, feels like that awkward family gathering where your uncle introduces you to his third wife. But hey, as long as you keep doing your thing, maybe you’ll stay in his will.
The teamLFG folks? They’re settling down in Bellevue, Washington. It’s a cool mix of newbies and old hands who’ve tinkered with stuff like Destiny, Halo, and League of Legends. And they’re basically spinning off from Bungie. Quite the family reunion, right?
In their own words (kinda), they’re all about action, vibes, and crafting social digital hangouts. The whole “Looking For Group” thing? Yeah, it’s their way of saying, “Hey, come chill with us.”
Sony’s live-service agenda is on full throttle, and teamLFG is but another cog in the machine. Their inaugural brainchild? It’s this game with flavors from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and the elusive “frog-type” games. Apparently, it’s cruising in a comedic, mythic, sci-fi universe. What’s that even mean? No clue. But we’re curious, right? Maybe it’ll be some mash-up of Tekken and Mario, with a splash of Dota 2 and a tiny bit of some mid-2000s viral frog meme nonsense.
Actual frogs? Maybe not. But they do swear by early access playtests and soaking up player feedback like a sponge. Do we need some kind of Crazy Frog Overwatch/Fortnite mashup in our lives? Probably not, but it’s happening.
What’s your take? Is PlayStation onto something with this move, or are you just here for the frog memes? Drop your thoughts below.
