Alright, so get this, The Pokémon Company International just dropped a bombshell (at least it felt like one to me) about this new thing called the Wisdom of Sea and Sky. Yep, it’s an expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. And when’s this going down? Mark it—next week, boom.
So, starting Wednesday, July 30, 2025, hold onto your hats because, believe it or not, you’ll catch those iconic Pokémon from the Johto region. You know, from back in the good ol’ days of Pokémon Gold and Silver. I’m talking Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile — the whole gang’s here. Oh, and Lugia and Ho-Oh make an appearance too. Legendary, right?
Now, here’s where it gets kinda wild — they’re introducing Pokémon with attacks that don’t even need Energy. Mind-bending, I know. Maybe it’s a game changer for those who love tweaking their decks and strategies. Or maybe it’s just me overthinking things again.
Oh, and there’s some tweakage happening with the Trade feature. Let me try to unravel this:
First up, there’s this Wishlist Feature. Finally, you say? Yeah, players can now shout out what cards they’re hunting for. You make a list, like at a grocery store, and you can flaunt three of those cards as your top “gimme-gimme” picks on your profile.
But wait, there’s more — yes, there are some changes to the actual trading itself. They’re ditching those trade tokens. Yep, doing away with ‘em, though it sounds like you’ll need this magical thing called “shinedust” (sounds sparkly, right?) for trading rare cards. How do you get this stardust… sorry, shinedust? By doing in-game missions, grabbing duplicate cards — you get the idea. Quick sidenote: Post-update mania kicks in on July 30 at 01:00 UTC. Felt important to mention, idk why.
Oh, oh! And don’t forget: The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is chilling out on the App Store for iOS devices and Google Play for Android devices. So if you’re into that sort of thing, you know where to go.
Did I mention there’s a trailer? Cuz there is. Probably epic — but hey, don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself.
