Xbox Introduces Significant Update to Game Streaming Functionality

From April 16 onward, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have access to a brand-new streaming feature from Microsoft called “Stream Your Own Game.” Previously exclusive to Xbox Insiders, this feature has now been made available to everyone outside of the testing phase. It’s a major perk for subscribers as it enables them to stream titles they already own, even if those games aren’t included in the regular Game Pass selection.

Initially rolled out in November 2024 for subscribers involved in the Xbox Insiders program, this feature quickly gained traction. By December of the same year, compatible devices expanded to include Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S consoles, Windows PCs, VR headsets, Amazon Fire TVs, and various iOS and Android smartphones. Now, anyone with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription can enjoy this delightful addition.

The Stream Your Own Game feature has enhanced the gaming experience for many, offering gamers the convenience of playing Xbox Series X/S games without needing the latest console. Instead, these games can be streamed to older Xbox One consoles through cloud technology, saving valuable storage space.

With a monthly subscription cost of $19.99, Game Pass Ultimate gives its members access to an extensive library of Xbox and PC games, including instant access to the latest titles from Xbox Game Studios. It’s a comprehensive offering, packed full of content and now even more appealing with the ability to stream additional games from well-known studios like Square Enix and various indie creators. This enhancement means fans of graphically demanding games like Final Fantasy 14, Baldur’s Gate 3, or Cyberpunk 2077 can now experience them on devices they already own. However, a steady internet connection is essential for a smooth streaming experience, with recommended speeds of at least 20 Mbps over Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

As per the latest updates, there are 125 Xbox games supporting the Stream Your Own Game feature, with efforts underway to add more titles in the coming months. This development highlights Microsoft’s commitment to broadening access and ensuring an exciting and flexible gaming experience for its users.
