I just read that Electronic Arts, you know, that big gaming company, is set to pull the plug on Anthem. Yeah, finally. They’re doing it next year, like January 12th, 2026. Mark your calendar, or maybe don’t because, well, who’s really keeping track of an old game being shelved, right?
So, here’s the thing: EA says you won’t be able to buy in-game currency anymore. If you’ve got some of that premium stuff lying around, lucky you—I guess? You can still use it. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, thanks for sticking with this. We appreciate your support!” But in a way, that’s like thanking someone for eating the last slice of pizza nobody wanted. Weirdly sincere, but okay.
Now, they’re saying no jobs have been cut because of this. Yet. Anyway—no wait, hold on—could this change? Maybe, who knows? Corporate-speak isn’t known for its clarity, after all.
Anthem was supposed to be this big thing for BioWare and EA. Launched in 2019. Didn’t really capture hearts, though. A bit like releasing a new flavor of ice cream that just tastes…meh. Then, rumors of all kinds of behind-the-scenes drama started swirling. Like a soap opera, but with video games.
BioWare even tried to fix it, remember? Oh, the makeover attempt! They wanted to do Anthem Next. But surprise, surprise—that didn’t happen. Why does this remind me of reorganizing a messy desk only to give up halfway? Anyway, that’s where it ends—or actually, where I stop rambling.
Has anyone else been sidetracked into watching those old Anthem trailers again? Just me?
