OneXPlayer has just presented the X1 Pro, a versatile device that blends three functionalities into one, thanks to its cutting-edge AMD Strix Point APUs. This latest addition, joining the ranks of offerings like the F1 Pro and Ayaneo 3, positions itself as a major player in the handheld market, rivaling GPD’s upcoming Pocket 4 mini-laptops.
What sets the X1 Pro apart is its capability to function seamlessly as a laptop, a tablet, and a handheld device. Similar to the Pocket 4, it is driven by the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, equipped with 12 cores (combining four Zen 5 and eight Zen5c) within a dual-CCX configuration. It boasts 12MB of L2 cache, a hefty 24MB of L3 cache, and reaches a boost clock speed of 5.1 GHz. On the graphics side, you get the Radeon 890M with 16 Compute Units. The NPU on the HX 370, powered by AMD’s XDNA 2, is capable of delivering 50 TOPS of AI performance—a remarkable feat.
The device sports a stunning 10.95-inch 120 Hz LTPS panel, likely of the IPS variety, showcasing a sharp 2560×1600 (2.5K) resolution. It’s vibrant too, covering 138% of the sRGB color spectrum and hitting a brightness level of 540 nits. If you’re looking at storage, options range from 1TB to a whopping 4TB, with read speeds up to 7.1 GB/s and write speeds of 6.5 GB/s in a 2280 form factor. For those who need even more space, there’s a handy MicroSD card slot.
In terms of pricing, during the presale period, you can pick up the version with the HX 370, 1TB of storage, and 32GB of RAM for $1,399, which will later retail at $1,599. Other configurations are also available, culminating in the high-end variant offering 4TB of storage and 64GB of RAM, priced at $1,799 during the presale and $1,999 thereafter.
The X1 Pro’s battery is a 65.02Wh unit, promising around eight hours of use, although real-world usage might bring it closer to two hours when set at 28W. Thankfully, a 100W Gallium Nitride charger is included in the packaging. As for connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
The control scheme is enhanced with hall-effect RGB joysticks designed to combat stick drift. The device’s I/O includes two USB 4.0 ports, an OCuLink interface, a MicroSD slot, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, and a 3.5mm audio jack for comprehensive connectivity.
Pre-orders are open today, offering a chance to benefit from special presale pricing. Shipping is expected to commence on January 3rd. Next month, OneXPlayer plans to give the X1 Pro its moment in the spotlight, showcasing it alongside other innovations at CES 2025.
