Since the PS5 announcement for Forza Horizon 5, it feels like the doors have swung wide open for Xbox games making their way to Sony’s consoles. There’s been buzz about Marcus Fenix joining the PlayStation lineup with his epic battles against the Locust Horde. It’s becoming clearer now that this release might actually be a collection of the first three games in the Gears of War series, hitting both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.
Gears of War Collection Making Its Way to PS5
Word from the grapevine, specifically from a well-known leaker eXtas1s, is that a Gears of War collection is indeed brewing. While specifics on when the official announcement will drop are still up in the air, eXtas1s suggests this collection will be a simultaneous multi-platform release. The game is expected to support cross-play, bridging players across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation seamlessly.
"I can spill the beans on the Gears Collection because it’s taken me quite a bit to pin down its existence," eXtas1s explained, with the translation courtesy of ResetEra’s Rychu. "But it does seem like this collection is real, and when it’s announced, it’ll be right out of the gate as a multi-platform offering. Again, the remastered versions of Gears will have cross-platform capabilities, letting players dive in together. The one thing I’m not sure about is a Switch release, but it definitely will support cross-platform play across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation."
This isn’t the first time whispers of Gears of War landing on PS5 have surfaced. Just a few weeks back, Jez Corden from Windows Central hinted that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition might pop up on Sony’s console as early as 2025.
As with all exciting rumors, it’s best to stay grounded. Numerous leakers and insiders might be echoing these claims, but let’s remember that the gaming world is ever-evolving, and plans can shift overnight. Until there’s an official word, we’ll keep our fingers crossed and our expectations in check.
