You know, sometimes life throws curveballs that make you wonder what’s next, like hearing a favorite band has a new frontman. So, here we go! Stainless Games just shook things up a bit – Ben Gunstone is now the big boss. Yep, he’s the new CEO, replacing Patrick Buckland, the dude who pretty much started the whole shebang back in 1994. Feels like ancient history, honestly.
Ben’s been hanging around Stainless since 2022. Kinda like when you crash a party and end up being the DJ eventually. He kicked things off as a game director and then just climbed the ladder – boom, operations director, and now, here he is, running the show. Before all this, he spent a stint at Dovetail Games. Not sure what he did there, but hey, it all adds up, right?
And Ben, gotta say, he’s riding high. “I’m thrilled and, let’s face it, a bit overwhelmed,” he shares, stepping into the CEO shoes (which I imagine have a unique squeak). He’s chuffed to be carrying on Patrick’s legacy. Picture a relay race, but with more pixels and no actual running.
Now, back to Patrick. The guy’s been leading this parade for 30 years. Thirty! He jokes about his age – says he’s turning 62 but doesn’t look a day over 70. Classic. Anyway, he’s stepping aside but not really, moving into an Executive Chairman role. Think of it as sliding into a comfy armchair after a long day, still keeping an eye on things – because, let’s face it, Stainless is his baby. Yet, he trusts Ben completely. Maybe it’s more of a hand-off, less of a goodbye. Onwards and upwards, indeed!
