SEGA just dropped some wild news: there’s a Sonic Racing CrossWorlds animation zooming our way this September. Apparently, it’s all to rev up the hype for their new kart racing thing. Seriously, does anyone else remember those Saturday mornings where Sonic was life? No? Just me? Cool.
Anyway—so this game is tossing you into courses with land, air, and sea. But wait, there’s more! Travel Rings! And I’m not sure if this is genius or madness, but they teleport you to these CrossWorlds right in the middle of a race. Yeah, imagine cruising and—bam—you’re somewhere else. Wild, huh?
Oh! The character lineup is crazy big, bigger than any Sonic racer ever, it seems. Think of mixing your car parts like some kind of mad scientist, crafting the perfect ride. Isn’t that half the fun anyway?
And here’s a twist: post-launch, they’re tossing in characters from other SEGA universes. Like, Persona 5 Royal’s Joker just waltzing in. I mean, who saw that coming? Oh, and Kasuga Ichiban from Like A Dragon, plus Hatsune Miku waving hello. It’s a crossover party, folks.
If you’re really into unlocking everything (who isn’t?), the Digital Deluxe Edition gives you even more characters from Sonic Prime—yeah, that Netflix show. Plus a Season Pass bringing in icons from, of all things, Minecraft. Am I dreaming?
SEGA’s given us a taste of the main features too. That Travel Rings thing? Seems designed to switch up races on a dime. Apparently, they drop you in new worlds mid-race to keep things spicy.
You’ll have 23 characters to pick from, racing over 24 tracks. And another 15 CrossWorlds thanks to those rings. Need I say more? Oh, there’s gadgets. Over 70 of ’em, to gear up your ride pre-race. Gotta love that tweak ability.
Customization’s deep here. If combining parts and powers is your thing, this will be like Christmas. Extreme Gear hoverboards are back too, echoing the old Sonic Riders vibes. Who’s down for some nostalgic air surfing?
Mark the calendar: September 25, 2025, is when it all kicks off on Switch. And there’s a Switch 2 version somewhere on the horizon. Excited? Confused? Let’s be honest, a bit of both.
