Alright, so get this. NWS2U.com, which was like the mecca for grabbing pirated Switch games without forking out any cash, got busted by the Feds. Yep, the U.S. authorities swooped in and took it down. If you pop onto the site now, it’s all official vibes with logos from the Department of Justice, FBI, and some Dutch folks from the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service sprawled across the page.
Crazy, right? There’s this bold statement they slapped up that basically goes: “Hey, this site’s been nabbed by the FBI as per some fancy legal jargon from the Georgia District Court.” So now, folks trying to pirate ROMs for their hacked-up Switches or whatever are kinda in a tight spot. Not that I’m advocating for any of that, just sayin’ it makes things trickier.
And can we talk about Nintendo? I mean, wow, they guard their stuff like a mama bear with her cubs. Banhammer’s always ready. They’re even blocking some USB-C hubs from working with the Switch 2 unless they’re the official ones. Like, seriously? There’s that Antank S3 Max TV Dock—or wait, maybe it’s called the SIWIQU TV Dock thing on Amazon. Who names these? Anyway, it’s like threading a needle here ’cause one firmware update from Nintendo and poof, it might not work anymore. Even the Brazilian government’s stepping in, giving Nintendo the side-eye over all these restrictions. But, to be fair, they do ease up on bans if you can prove you got duped into a piracy mess. So, there’s that little redemption arc, I guess.
Oh! And don’t even get me started on the Switch 2. It’s kind of killing it, surpassing the original Switch’s launch sales by more than a million units. People are obviously sticking around for those exclusive games, even if the Switch 2 isn’t as beefy in the performance department compared to, say, the Steam Deck or that ROG Ally X thing. Who knew?
