Man, where do I even start? Activision totally ghosted us on Black Ops 7. You remember that teaser they dropped in June during the Xbox Showcase? Yeah, that little blip got us all hyped — like dangling a carrot and then yanking it away. So, time passes, we’re in mid-July now, and nada. Activision vaguely promised some summer updates, but it’s been radio silence. Classic move, right?
Then just when I’m about to give up and move on, they throw a curveball: August. Gamescom. Mark your calendars — or don’t, whatever. It’s happening on August 19, right during gamescom Opening Night Live. Feels kinda off, doesn’t it? Call of Duty’s big enough to host its own shindig, away from all that summer gaming chaos. I mean, maybe it’s strategic, or maybe they’re just winging it this year. Who knows.
And speaking of August 19, what are we even gonna see? Could be just a trailer, or maybe they’ll hit us with a deeper dive later on. Somewhere between this reveal and a probable September beta, we’re bound to get more deets. Fingers crossed, at least.
The whole return to the near-future setting? Super intriguing. Throw in co-op for the campaign, and now we’re talking. Fans are hoping — scratch that, expecting — some kind of link between Black Ops 6 and this new one. Activision ain’t saying much, but they better spill the beans soon.
Oh, release date? Technically, it’s still up in the air. But if history’s anything to go by, November seems like a safe bet. Thinking PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S — the usual suspects. Anyway, we wait with bated breath. Let’s see where this rollercoaster heads next.
