The moment’s finally here—or should I say, has been coming forever? Honkai: Star Rail just dropped something wild. Felt like everyone and their dog has been buzzing about this new crossover event. They’re pulling in Fate/stay night, like pulling a rabbit from a hat, only the hat’s been around for weeks, and you already knew about the rabbit because, well, internet spoilers.
Anyway—wasn’t just Fate stuff in that last update, patch 3.4, it had some other juicy bits too, if you caught the livestream back in June. Side note: Why do they always do these things when I’m supposed to be doing something important? It’s like they know. But hey, let’s get back on track. The Fate series promises some shiny new faces joining the game, which folks have been losing their minds over.
So, big news—this mashup won’t be packing its bags anytime soon. It’s here to stay, although rumor mill says maybe till November? Who knows! Pop in Saber from the Fate series, a 5-Star Wind/Destruction hero. Then you’ve got Archer, another 5-Star, but Quantum/Hunt. Free for all, if you swing by during the event, but you’ll have to roll the dice (or whatever it is) to snag Saber. And look at that, Archer comes with enough stuff to get to level 60. Easy peasy.
The banners this time—oh boy—four of them, lighting up the skies, or your screen, whatever. No boosted 4-star rates here, just a pledge you’ll score Saber’s light cone after a dizzying 200 warps. Might as well start praying now. And yeah, these Fate characters? No English dubs. Bit of a head-scratcher given MiHoYo’s tough stand on the voice actor strike in the US.
On top of cramming Fate into the game, there’s also this new gig, Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail, plus a 30-day event ending August 11 that’s like a fancy combat challenge. Spoiler: exclusive rewards are up for grabs, so don’t sleep on it. And if you miss out, don’t worry—some of this stuff’ll drift into the game’s Conventional Memoir later.
Okay, quick detour. Earlier this month, they tossed in some non-Fate characters. Like Phainon, usually just hanging around in the game, but now you can actually play as them. Same 5-Star deal, Physical/Destruction, if you’re keeping score.
And then, 3.4 also brings reruns. Phase 1 brought back Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle. Later, on July 23, Phase 2 reignites Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade. Firefly’s even getting a new look. Oh, and Kafka? Silver Wolf? Blade? They each got a little mechanical boost. Probably need them, right? Or maybe I’m just biased.
So, if you’re into Fate or Honkai or just shiny new things, maybe dive in. Or don’t. Who’s to say?
